Learning Pods at Clinics GRP

See how every Clinics GRP clinician participates in a Learning Pod that connects shared learning with formal supervision and clinical governance.

Every Clinics GRP clinician participates in a Learning Pod. Each Pod can adapt to its people and purpose while keeping learning, formal supervision and governance clearly connected.

Organisation-wide model

Shared learning is part of ordinary clinical work

A Learning Pod is a consistent small group in which clinicians discuss practice, learn together and follow development actions through over time.

Clear boundaries

The structure supports learning without replacing accountability

Pod activity complements formal one-to-one supervision, capability decisions, escalation and clinical governance. It does not replace them.

How the model connects

One leading Learning Pod example

This model incorporates the business owner's current composition update. The leading Pod currently includes one Senior Clinician, one Senior Clinician in Training and two Graduate Clinicians; it does not imply that every Clinics GRP Pod has the same members, cadence or format.

Clinics GRP Learning Pod structure

Governance and mentoring

Clinical Director

Mentors senior development and governs clinical education.

Weekly Learning Pod meeting

Case discussion, problem solving, clinical reasoning and planning.

Monthly education session

Structured learning aligned with the clinical curriculum.

Continuous feedback loop

Observation, feedback, reflection and application in practice.

This cadence describes the illustrated leading Pod and is not a universal schedule for every Clinics GRP Pod.

The Learning Pod is a learning mechanism, not a management tier. Safety, scope or performance concerns move into formal supervision and clinical governance.

Learning mechanism

What the Learning Pod holds

Shared learning, case discussion, observation, teaching, documentation feedback and follow-through on development actions.

Formal accountability

What remains outside the Pod

Formal supervision, capability and caseload decisions, performance concerns, escalation and Clinical Director accountability remain within the appropriate supervision and governance pathways.

Inside a Learning Pod

Practice, feedback and follow-through

The activities make learning practical and connected to day-to-day clinical work.

01

Case review and clinical reasoning

02

Observation and appropriate joint appointments

03

Documentation feedback

04

Practical teaching or simulation

05

Risk and escalation discussion

06

Follow-through on development actions

Leading Pod example

One Pod connects senior and graduate development

The current leading Pod has one Senior Clinician, one Senior Clinician in Training and two Graduate Clinicians. The planned extension retains the two senior roles and adds a third Graduate Clinician. Clinical Director mentoring and Named Clinical Supervisor accountability remain separate and clear.

Optional participation

Contributors and students join within clear boundaries

Multidisciplinary clinicians may contribute bounded teaching, case learning and observation where relevant. Students may join appropriate activities only when placement capacity, consent, scope and the education plan allow.

Purpose and focus

Capability grows through guided practice

The model connects clinical capability, confidence and professional judgement with older-adult care, teamwork and service outcomes. Senior participation also creates guided opportunities to develop the next generation of clinical leaders.

What the model is designed to support

Development and consistency over time

Learning Pods are designed to support these outcomes; they do not guarantee a particular clinical or workforce result.

  • Continuous mentoring
  • Leadership development
  • Consistent clinical standards
  • Knowledge transfer
  • Succession planning
